Riverweaver

The Riverweaver - a synapsid creature that dwells in temperate forest river habitats, hunting fish.

HEAD:
Flexible heron-like neck aiding fast, reflexive fishing with it's long, aerodynamic beak.
Muntjac-deer inspired scent glands protected by the bony formations of it's face when diving.
A pointed cartilage protrusion under it's jaw for hydrodynamic mobility underwater.
Two long horns with winding grooves to allow water to pass when diving, evolved with flat ends to release water, as well was hold water for symbiotic song birds who perch there, much like with water buffalo.
Two, falcon-like eyes on either side of it's face.

BODY:
Long, heron-like front legs with osprey-like talons used for grasping prey
Ostrich-like hind legs resulting in fast and powerful land movement.
Fins that run the length of it's back and tail to aid mobility underwater; a moray eel-like tail to aid swimming underwater, and balance on land.

Creature design assignment done during my junior year at Ringling, studying visual development under my illustration major.
